For over a decade, Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) has partnered with Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) to support vulnerable and underserved children through education, psychosocial support, healthcare referrals, and personal development opportunities. Since 2011, YSD has committed RM5.85 million towards programmes that have reached more than 1,600 children and underprivileged youths, including 620 undocumented children supported through YCK’s home-schooling initiatives.

Beyond direct community support, the partnership has also grown into broader cross-sector efforts focused on improving access, protection, and advocacy for marginalised children.

On 6 October 2025, YSD and YCK convened a roundtable on “Access to Healthcare for All Children in Malaysia”, bringing together civil society organisations and partners to address healthcare gaps faced by undocumented, marginalised, and low-income communities.

Building on this momentum, YSD further supported a national initiative with SUHAKAM and YCK from 8 to 12 June 2026 focused on advancing legal reform, strengthening child protection systems, and amplifying children’s voices through stakeholder engagements, a Parliamentary symposium, and a Civil Society with Children Town Hall.

03 / Voices of impact

“Child rights are not words on paper—they are about dignity, survival, and the chance to belong. Real change begins when we take responsibility to rebuild that system so every child has the chance not just to live, but to thrive.”

Dato’ Dr Hartini Zainudin, Child Rights Activist and Founder of Yayasan Chow Kit
